The Dunkirk Senior Center is open to any senior (50 and older) To promote socializing with other seniors, monthly events include excursions, bingo, cards, daily exercise, Mon Jong and art and craft classes. A beautiful library, including books, puzzles and magazines, and 2 computers are available to seniors. For more happenings at the Senior Center, or more information on how to join, please call 366-7530.

The New York State Office for the Aging's (NYSOFA's) home and community-based programs provide older persons access to a well-planned, coordinated package of in-home and other supportive services designed to support and supplement informal care. NYSOFA's overall goal is to improve access to, and availability of, appropriate and cost-effective non-medical support services for older individuals to maximize their ability to age in their community and avoid higher levels of care and publicly financed care.

PACE is an optional Medicare and Medicaid benefit that serves older adults who meet their state’s standards for nursing home-level care. PACE offers comprehensive medical and social services that can be provided at an adult day health center, in a participant’s home, and/or in an inpatient facility. For most patients, these services enable them to continue living in their own homes, rather than moving to a long-term care facility.
The State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) is a counseling program designed to answer the elderly’s questions about health insurance. Whether it is Medicare, Medicaid, supplemental insurance or other coverage, volunteers are trained to answer questions, compare policies, organize paperwork and help with claims and filing appeals.
