Mayor Wdowiasz proclaims, June 15th & 16th as juneteenth Weekend

The Juneteenth Celebration Committee will sponsor the 28th Annual Juneteenth Celebration on Saturday, June 15th, and Sunday, June 15th at Memorial Park with this year's theme being, "The Time Is Always Right To Do What Is Right". Juneteenth celebrates the abolition of slavery in the United States and remembers African American achievement; while encouraging education, continuous self-development, respect for all cultures and planning for the future; and people of all races, nationalities and religions will be joining hands to acknowledge a period in our history that shaped and continues to influence our society today. It is a time to honor and remember the unbreakable spirit and countless contributions of generations of African Americans; and the celebration will include prayer and religious services, speeches, educational events, music, food, dancing and many activities for all members of the family.
 Juneteenth 2024 Proclamation
