Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event

The City of Dunkirk will host a “Household Hazardous Waste” collection event on Saturday, June 3rd  from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Lucas Avenue facility. The event is sponsored by Chautauqua County, NYSDEC, Storer’s Container Service and Chautauqua Co. Hazmat.

Materials accepted include used auto fluids, drain cleaners, glue, paint, aerosol cans, varnishes, turpentine, solvents, weed killers and pesticides. Items NOT accepted include batteries, electronics, prescription drugs, sharps, drywall compound, smoke detectors, fire extinguishers and waste oil.  The registration form, which contains a complete list of acceptable/unacceptable items, can be found here on the City’s website, City Hall in the City Clerk’s Office, City Treasurer’s Office or Public Works Department or by calling 716-661-8424 for more information.  

Completed registration forms will be collected from residents on Saturday, June 3rd.
