City Supports 6th Annual Veteran's Fishing Day
The City showed its support today at the 6th Annual Veteran’s Fishing Day presented by both WNYHeros, Inc. and Innovative Outdoors. The return of this event’s catered lunch after the recent COVID pandemic was held in the pavilion behind the Clarion. There were 29 boats and approximately 75 veterans who participated in this year’s event. The great fishing was provided by our wonderful resource, Lake Erie. Mayor Rosas supported the partnership event that gets Veterans out fishing on our local waterfront by having City staff present a sponsorship check to Co-founders of WNYHeroes, Inc., Chris Kreiger and Lynn Magisrale for all their passionate work regarding the empowerment and support to WNY veterans through their different programs.
One of those programs Pawsitive for Heroes pairs support service dogs with local veterans.
Owners of Innovative Outdoors, Jim and Diane Steel helped organize the event and are working with the City to help with the upcoming National Walleye Tournament Championship that is to be held here in Dunkirk on August 24-26th this year. Pro-angler Craig Sleeman will be attending the upcoming NWT event and was out on the lake today. For more information on next year’s event, please call WNYHeroes at 716-630-5020.
