Schumer Presents Funding Towards Chautauqua County Projects
U.S. Senate Majority Leader, Chuck Schumer visited the Dunkirk Pier this morning to discuss the $10 million in funding that will be awarded for Chautauqua County projects, of which the City of Dunkirk will receive $5.9 million. Mayor Wilfred Rosas indicated that the money will go towards much needed expensive dredging of debris and the construction of a water break wall that would deter crashing waves into the local marina. Neighboring areas Barcelona Harbor will receive $1.1 million with the addition of the Army Corps of Engineers receiving $8 million for the dredging in that area, along with Cattaraugus Creek Harbor getting $1million for their dredging needs.
