A. Contract 1-2011: Willowbrook Storage Tank
- New 2.0 million gallon elevated storage tank
- Estimated completion: August 2013
B. Contract 8-2011: Filter Renovations
- Replacement of filter valves for Filters 1 and 3-8
- Insulate filter piping and walls.
- Renovation of Filter No. 6 with new under drain, air scour system and filter media (will allow increase in filtration capacity).
- Install new air blower system for air scour backwash.
- Estimated completion: April 2013
C. Contract 1-2012: Electrical Wiring for Filter Control Consoles
- Estimated completion: April 2013
III. Pending Projects to Complete Consent Order Obligations
A. Renovations of Filters No’s. 1-5, 7 and 8
- Install new under-drains, air scour system, filter media and associated piping in remaining 7 filters.
- Filter building renovations including new doors, windows and other building improvements.
- Design work nearly complete. Construction estimated to start in April or May 2013
B. Eliminate Backwash Storage Tanks
- Clear well expansion and new Pump Building with backwash and high lift pumping systems. Install new backwash water storage tank.
- Also includes items identified in 2008 Facility Plan including replacement of Chemical feed systems, valves, piping, instrumentation, new trac-vac systems and other work.
- Currently under design. Construction estimated to start late 2013 or early 2014
C. Electrical System Upgrades and SCADA System
- Replacement of portions of the electrical system at the Water Plant
- Installation of new computerized monitoring and control system (SCADA) to automate plant operations.
- Relocation of existing standby generator to new high lift pump building.
- Currently under design. Construction estimated to start late 2013 or early 2014.
D. Roof Replacement for High Lift Pump Station
- Not in Consent order but required due to condition of roof and parapet wall.
The City of Dunkirk, in order to provide an opportunity to the public to enhance the character of our community, has created a Community Garden Program whereby interested City individuals and groups are allowed to utilize various parcels of City property to establish and to maintain community gardens.

Dunkirk Public Library After-School Snack Program
The Dunkirk Public Library was awarded CDBG funding to provide after school snacks for students.

Sidewalk Improvements
Portions of residential sidewalks located in qualified census tracts will be repaired or replaced as part of the City of Dunkirk’s CDBG Program. The list of streets chosen for the program year is as follows:

Dunkirk Historical Museum Improvements
The Dunkirk Historical Museum was awarded CDBG funding for repairs and ADA upgrades to the building.

The ADAMS Center for Collaborative Design was awarded CDBG funding for building repairs.

Owner Occupied Housing Rehabilitation / Roof Repair Program
Chautauqua Home Rehabilitation and Improvement Corportation (CHRIC) was awarded CDBG funding to administer an Owner Occupied Roof Repair Program. The purpose of this program is to provide safer, healthier, and happier living environments by repairing or replacing failing roofs of low/moderate-income City residents. Acquisition / Rehab / Resale Housing Program for First Time Homebuyers
Chautauqua Home Rehabilitation and Improvement Corportation (CHRIC), Chautauqua Opportunities (COI), and Chautauqua County Land Bank have been awarded CDBG funding to administer housing rehabilitation programs in the City. The purpose of these programs is to foreclosed or otherwise dilapidated housing, renovate and rehabilitate, and bring the home back to life. These homes are then made available for sale to low/moderate income first time homebuyers. STATUS: This project is ongoing and working from a waiting list.
First Time Homebuyer Program
The City has allocated CDBG funding for a first time Homebuyer Program. This program will provide funding to low/moderate income first time homebuyers in the City of Dunkirk. Interested individuals will be required to complete a first time homebuyer seminar and provide documentation of low/moderate-income status.

Emergency Food PantryThe Salvation Army was awarded CDBG funding to provide emergency food boxes to low/moderate income residents of Dunkirk. For more information, contact 716-366-3701.

Bridging the GapThe Boys & Girls Club of Northern Chautauqua County has been allocated CDBG funds to administer the Bridging the Gap Program for Dunkirk youth. This after school program will promote mentoring, tutoring, exploration and research into career areas for 70 low/moderate-income youth ages 5-14.
STATUS: This project is ongoing.
The project includes a large all-inclusive playground that provides children of all ablities the chance to play. The playground will be located between and City's Splash Pad and Skate Park to create a large "fun zone" at Wright Park. The project also includes a nature play area, upgrades/repairs to the surrounding bike trails, and street and trail construction.
The City was awarded $2.5 million to implement three meaningful projects that would enhance current infrastructure, create better regional connections, and spur private investment at the waterfront. These three projects include:

Restore NY Grant - 23-25 Lake Shore Dr. Mixed Use Project
