Officers
Command Staff:
Captain Gary Katta: Captain Katta was appointed to the Dunkirk Fire
Department in 1994. Captain Katta was promoted to FIre Lieutenant in
2000 and Fire Captain in 2015 also serving several years as a Public Safety
Officer. Captain Katta also has the duty of being the department Municipal
Training Officer.
Lieutenant Shift 1 : Lieutenant Jason Kirell: Lt. Kirell was appointed to the
Dunkirk Fire Department in 2007 and promoted to Lieutenant in 2019. Lt.
Kirell is also a City Fire Investigator.
Lieutenant Shift 2: Lieutenant Nicholas Barter: Lt. Barter was appointed to
the Dunkirk Fire Department in 2008 and was promoted to Lieutenant in
2014. Lt. Barter serves as the department's Emergency Medical Liaison.
Lieutenant Shift 3: Lieutenant Anthony Thomas: Lt. Thomas was appointed
to the Dunkirk Fire Department in 2006 and was promoted to Lieutenant in
2015. Lt. Thomas is also the officer in charge of the Dunkirk Water
Emergency Team.
Lieutenant Shift 4: Lieutenant Robert Trzaska: Lt. Trzaska was appointed
to the Dunkirk Fire Department in 2000 and promoted to Lieutenant in
2009. Lt. Trzaska has duties in administration of Technical Rescue and
Peer Fitness.
