Dunkirk has developed a city wide parks and recreation system for the enjoyment of its citizens. A variety of Parks are available to fit every need. An active Sports Complex at Wright Park provides for baseball, softball, soccer, basketball, skate boarding, incline skating, bicycling, swimming and playing fields. The naturally beautiful Point Gratiot Park has large picnic pavilions, playgrounds, sand volleyball, trails and a pristine beach front. Memorial Park hosts veteran's celebrations and our Memorial Day Parade, the 4th of July celebrations; located along the waterfront it provides the entrance to the Dunkirk Yacht Club. Washington Park has a gazebo which is the perfect location for hosting local shows and professional entertainment; paved walking paths and benches provide a nice area to stroll in the downtown area. Veteran's Park offers a baseball/softball, soccer complex along with a playground facility. Kosciusko Park has our fenced street hockey court, softball/baseball and basketball courts.

For those who enjoy water recreation there is an endless variety. Pristine Point Gratiot Beach and the very popular Wright Park Beach offer swimmers/sun bathers a safe area with lifeguards on duty from July 1st to Labor Day. Main Street Beach is an unguarded beach that is used by boaters, and jet skiers.

The City Pier is part of Dunkirk's beautiful waterfront and Lake Erie. It is the site for numerous fishing tournaments and festivals.

Sports Complex The City of Dunkirk sports complex at Wright Park is located at 50 North Warsaw Street. The complex has baseball fields, softball fields, basketball courts, a skate park, bike/walk trails, a public beach, concession stands, batting cages, picnic areas, pavilions, and playing fields. Users of the complex include Dunkirk Little League, Catholic Baseball, Dunkirk Midget league, ASA softball, Adult leagues in slow pitch and fast pitch softball and the Dunkirk High School Softball Teams.

Recreation/Sports/Activities
The City of Dunkirk offers a wide range of recreation leagues and activities for both youths and adults. Year round leagues and activities allow those who want to recreate an opportunity to do so! A number of recreational facilities are available for public use throughout the city, six basketball courts, six softball fields, five baseball fields, one football field, two soccer fields, four creative playgrounds and a recreation center.

The Recreation Center: Located on the Chautauqua County Fairgrounds. The Center is open from December 1st to March 31st, operating seven days a week from 7:30AM to 11:00PM and offers a wide range of activities for youth and adults. If you enjoy walking, join us at the "Rec Center" for our Adult Walking Program. Bring a team in and join our Adult Floor Hockey League! Or get some running in while playing in our Adult Soccer program. Do you have a sports team that needs practice time? Rent our facility by the hour. You can also have you Birthday Party in the "Rec Center." Use our Indoor Batting Cages or register the kids for one of our many Youth Programs/Activities.

Midget League Football- The Dunkirk Midget Football program consists of two teams of youngsters between the ages of 9-12. The "J.V." team is made up of 9 and 10 year olds who weigh up to 125lbs. The "Varsity" team is made up of 11 and 12 year olds who weigh less than 115lbs. The program runs from August through October.

Dunkirk Youth Bureau- In conjunction with the New York State Office of Children and Family Services, the Youth Bureau coordinates a number of youth programs within the City. Easter Jelly Bean guessing contest, Halloween Event, Thanksgiving poster contest, Santa's Workshop, Special Olympics, and the youth engage in service program are some of the many programs and events that the Youth Bureau are involved in.
