For Immediate Release - Moonlight Movies Series Continues with Hotel For Dogs Showing
Dunkirk, NY - June 3, 2009
The City of Dunkirk Festivals and events committee is pleased to announce the continuation of our summer movies series. Sponsored by Monster Energy Drink, the Moonlight Movies series features FREE outdoor movie showings that are displayed at locations throughout the City. The initial presentation featured the DreamWorks picture Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa and brought over 450 movie goers to the steps of City Hall. The Series is set to continue Friday June 12, 2009 with the recently released DreamWorks Picture Hotel For Dogs shown this time in the First Ward at the Dunkirk Little League Complex.
Hotel for Dogs, adapted from author Lois Duncan's 1971 children's book of the same name, director Thor Freudenthal follows two mischievous orphans as they attempt to hide dozens of stray dogs in an abandoned hotel. Disheartened by their new guardians' announcement that pets are strictly forbidden, 16-year-old Andi (Emma Roberts) and her younger brother, Bruce (Jake T. Austin), race to find a home for their loyal dog Friday. Fortunately for Friday, there's an abandoned hotel just around the corner, and Bruce possesses just the kind of mechanical smarts needed to transform the rundown inn into a four-star retreat for canines. For a while, Friday and his friends have it made, but when the neighbors start to get suspicious, Andi and Bruce resort to every trick in the book in order to prevent their secret from being discovered.
The showing will be FREE of charge to all and will feature complimentary popcorn, and other refreshments. Residents are encouraged to bring a blanket or lawn chair and meet for this unique showing. The movie will begin at dusk, approximately 9pm or immediately following the last Little League game of the evening, however popcorn, music and other activities will begin at 8:30pm.
